Lobos Island: tour or on your own — which should you book?
Updated October 19, 2026 · 6 min read
For most first-time visitors who want to walk and explore, book the Lobos round-trip ticket with park entry. It organises the crossing and park entry while leaving the island itself to you. Choose the four-hour Lobos catamaran if you would rather have lunch, drinks, snorkelling and kayaking arranged. The €16 speedboat is the cheapest crossing, but a crossing is all it solves.

What “on your own” really means
Independent does not mean turning up without a plan. A ferry or speedboat booking gets you from Corralejo to the Lobos dock and back. Once ashore, you decide how to divide the time between walking, the coast and the beach. The basic ferry listing does not state an overall duration, while the speedboat’s 15 minutes describes the ride rather than your complete outing. Your return choice therefore matters more than the one-euro difference between them.
The ticket with park entry is the cleanest independent purchase. Its one-day label provides a broad frame and its title explicitly combines transport with entry. It still does not give you a guide, meal or organised route. That is an advantage if you dislike being moved on to the next activity, and a disadvantage if you want someone else to structure the day.

What an organised option adds
The €27 package keeps the independent island visit but adds snorkelling to the same booking. It is the middle ground: useful when you want one arranged activity without paying for a hosted boat programme. Its listing leaves the overall duration blank, so the sailing slots still determine the shape of your day.
The catamaran answers a different question. Over four hours, paella, drinks, snorkelling and kayaking are the itinerary. You are buying an activity on the water, not maximum freedom ashore. At €75 it is poor value for a traveller mainly interested in walking across Lobos; for a group that wants to eat, swim and stay with one crew, the extra organisation is precisely the product.

The decision
Go independently when Lobos itself is the destination. Pick your return carefully and accept that food, pace and route remain yours to arrange. Book the snorkelling package when one water activity would improve that free day. Choose the catamaran only when the boat, meal and hosted activities are more important than roaming the island.
For most visitors, the round-trip ticket with park entry is the clearest answer: it removes the two administrative parts named on the booking page and preserves the freedom people usually go to Lobos for.
